Army: Enlisted or Officer?

I know the merits of both, I just don't know which one I should go for.

I have a college degree so I can enlist as an E4.  I'm all for paying your dues before reaping the rewards too.

But I worked hard for that degree and I feel that I have the ability inside of me to be a leader if I let the Army teach me.

Your thoughts?

You could not pay me enough to be an officer. Simply because as a typical officer you would spend a total of 2 1/2 years leading soldiers in your whole twenty year career. If you wind up commanding a BN then you can tack on another year or so but only 10% of every year group ever commands a BN. The vast majority or your time would be spent working in staff positions.

As an enlisted person once you make E-5 you will be a leader. While you may spend some time in staff positions it will be the exception and not the rule.
